We are holding a Virtual Interest Meeting for Docents this Wednesday, May 7th at 6:00 PM! As the Ocean Exploration Center nears its opening, we are creating a new Docent program that is dedicated to the new building.
A fish as beautiful as it is destructive, invasive lionfish have dramatically impacted marine ecosystems due to their high reproductive rate and voracious appetites. These visually stunning fish have characteristic red and white stripes and long, fanlike spines and fins.
This month we are excited to welcome David Anderson as our guest speaker. David and his team collect sea turtle nesting data and analyze trends using geographic information technology on Boca Raton’s five miles of beach. He also conducts nighttime lighting surveys and responds to sea turtle stranding events. Join us to learn more about the threats sea turtles face and how this work is important for protecting the coastal environment.
